He: yung!
I am seeking your vote for Tribal Chairman. I also Thank You for the support you have given to me as your elected representative. I appreciate our visits, calls, emails, and Facebook live sessions. I especially appreciate those who have invited me into their homes. The same concerns that prompted me to run for Tribal Council are the reasons I decided to run for Tribal Chairman: Accountability to Tribal Members, Collaboration with Tribal members, and Transparency for Tribal Members.
We must have Accountability, Collaboration, and Transparency with the membership. We must create a shared vision for our future. Where do we see our tribe today, tomorrow, or even next year? Let alone in 5, 10, and 15 years from now? Our shared vision must identify short and long-term goals, together we can move Hoopa forward and be stronger than ever. This administration’s lack of a vision is preventing the Tribe from meeting its potential. During the February 17, 2023, General Meeting our Chief Fiscal Officer (CFO) stated several times the tribe is broke and cash poor. It has been stated numerous times that it is difficult to make payroll every two weeks. We must listen to our CFO. Despite our financial difficulties, we must also recognize the many dedicated tribal employees.
For over three years, the tribe has been unable to establish minors trust accounts due to existing financial constraints. Tough decisions must be made regarding our finances/deficit but tribal members must be included in these decisions. Tribal members must be informed and allowed to participate in the process. Historically Hoopa has led the nation in the development of critical legislation and infrastructure for Indian Country.
Together we can rebuild and transform our tribe to once again be a leader among tribal nations. I offer you Accountability, I ask for your Collaboration and I will give you Transparency. I will be honored to hold your vote.
